The Henry County Highway Superintendent Joe Copeland presented to the Town Council at the regular Town Council Meeting February 11, 2021 that the bridge over Applebutter Creek on Helen Blvd to be structurally unsafe for vehicle traffic. It was stated that pedestrian traffic was permittable. The county will replace this structure but does not have it in their schedule until 2022. The bridge will be inspected again Summer 2021 to establish a more detailed plan on replacement. Due to the liability to the town, the Council agreed that closing the bridge to vehicle traffic is necessary. The Council realizes this may cause some inconveniences, but we hope that our citizens understand and will comply with this closure.
